The FCC Sunset Clause allows wireless carriers to shut down their analog networks (AMPS) after February 18, 2008. AirLink’s RJ-11 IP Gateway enables seamless migration of remote devices currently using the AMPS network for dial-up data transfer. For remote devices that only have RJ-11 interfaces, the RJ-11 IP Gateway provides dial tone and negotiates standard modem protocols. It then establishes a TCP connection to the host over the digital cellular network using an AirLink Raven-X or Raven-E. The RJ-11 IP Gateway also receives incoming connection requests through the Raven-X and appears like an incoming data call to the remote device.
